  • Description of this item from 2012 University of Houston Libraries exhibition, "DJ Screw and the Rise of Houston Hip Hop": DJ Screw on the mixer and turntables in the "wood room" at his house on Greenstone in the Gulfgate area, where he lived with longtime girlfriend Nikki Williams. Many of the screw tapes that he was famous for and some of the most legendary freestyle raps to come out of Houston were recorded in the wood room.
