  • Description of this item from 2012 University of Houston Libraries exhibition, "DJ Screw and the Rise of Houston Hip Hop": A young Robert Earl Davis (DJ Screw) is seen with his mother, Ida Mae Deary Davis, his sister Michelle Wheeler, and her daughter Shameka. His maternal grandmother can just be seen at the right hand edge of the frame. A jokester by nature, Robert is making the classic "bunny ears" behind his mother's head. As an older boy, he moved to the Los Angeles area for a couple of years with his mother and his sister Michelle before they returned to Smithville.
