She has had a continued low fever for\r\ntwo days past beside being Salivated slightly\r\nshe looks very badly - and feels so depressed\r\nabout her condition - last night \u0026amp; all day\r\ntoday she has been suffered greatly from con-\r\ntinued nausea [sic] occasionally vomiting.  Both\r\nher \u0026amp; Gaston feared Doct. Powel was not doing\r\nall that could be done, and this morning\r\nGaston got Doct. Jordan to come up, and pre-\r\nscribe for her.  I can see a change already\r\nin her, and so soon as her stomach is in a con-\r\ndition to take Iron \u0026amp; other tonics, I think she\r\nwill improve - Everything worries her so much\r\nparticularly detaining me so long and the\r\nfear that she will entirely loose her milk\r\nand have to raise her baby as she did the others\r\nwhich is attended with trouble \u0026amp; exposure\r\nat of the mother at night.  Poore [sic] sufferer\r\nher fate seems so very sad - as she said\r\n----------------------------------------------------------\r\nyesterday “what a fate has been mine, suffering in\r\nsome form all the time.”  I feel that everything\r\nthat I can do to help her comforts her so\r\nmuch - and will aid her recovery - If I can only\r\nkeep well myself is all I ask - I commit all to\r\nthe all wise God whose ways are beyond our\r\ncomprehension - I feel sometimes almost bereft\r\nof my senses - away from home so long \u0026amp; in discom-\r\nfort too fearing I may get sick myself\r\n\r\nYou had better look around for a wife\r\nto see after your home, what think you \r\nof this proposition\r\n\r\nYour Mother\r\nMary Jones\r\n\r\nDoct Powel will be in Houston in a few\r\ndays from now, say nothing to him of Doct\r\nJ’s being called to see Sallie.\r\n\r\nThis weather has been so unfavorable to Sallie, indeed\r\nwell people can scarcely stand it"],"sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","@id":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/02870w04d/manifest/sequence/normal","rendering":[],"canvases":[{"@type":"sc:Canvas","@id":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/02870w04d/manifest/canvas/2b88qc35p","label":"uhlib_1970_003_do13999638v_0001.tif","width":640,"height":480,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@type":"dctypes:Image","@id":"https://media.lib.uh.edu/images/2b88qc35p%2Ffiles%2F7ff7edd6-b4b9-42b3-bca0-6af2aefb35f3/full/600,/0/default.jpg","height":480,"width":640,"format":null,"service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://media.lib.uh.edu/images/2b88qc35p%2Ffiles%2F7ff7edd6-b4b9-42b3-bca0-6af2aefb35f3","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"}},"on":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/02870w04d/manifest/canvas/2b88qc35p"}]},{"@type":"sc:Canvas","@id":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/02870w04d/manifest/canvas/pk02cb05g","label":"uhlib_1970_003_do13999638v_0002.tif","width":640,"height":480,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@type":"dctypes:Image","@id":"https://media.lib.uh.edu/images/pk02cb05g%2Ffiles%2F2f61cca6-276f-41ab-bea1-7c29c1f14eb4/full/600,/0/default.jpg","height":480,"width":640,"format":null,"service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://media.lib.uh.edu/images/pk02cb05g%2Ffiles%2F2f61cca6-276f-41ab-bea1-7c29c1f14eb4","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"}},"on":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/02870w04d/manifest/canvas/pk02cb05g"}]}]}]}
