Mr. McComb \u0026amp; others\ntho by the nay when Mr. Mc finished\nit was too late for others to say much\nas it was then half after ten Oclock.  I\nenjoyed Mr. McCombs discourse very\nmuch notwithstanding it there was rather\n----------------------------------------------------\ntoo much detail for the occasion, but there\nis an earnest bold determination in his manner\nI liked much.  Elliot went with us \u0026amp; listen\n-ed very attentively for an hour, or more un\n-til he became sleepy when he said to me\n“Mama how will you make that man stop”\ntalking preaching”  Gaston says to tell you\nthat the Democratic Club met here yesterday\nafternoon eight Negres [sic] joined it.  Much\nenthusiasm manifested, our speakers are\nvery boldly declare that “We can \u0026amp; will\ncarry this election peaceably if we can\nif not be force of arms” or any way to\nput down radical rule in our Co. “Amen\nI say)  Gas says the Pump does nicely\nMrs. Ashe \u0026amp; Children are well \u0026amp; are still at\nMr. Jordans. Both\nhis horses have been sick\nagain,  one, his campaign\nhorse is now in bad plight \nBaby the Childrens little\nMare was killed by the Train\nlast Sunday morning.  Gas\nsays this is some more of my\n“bad luck.”  The good luck\nis that he will without doubt\nbe elected Sheriff.  And doubt\n-less he will get from the Rail\nRoad  $75 dollars for the little\nmare.   I see by the Papers price\ncurrent of Onions \u0026amp; Potatoes \nare very cheap, this however may\nbe wholesale prices.  Use your \nown judgment in purchasing\nthere are none in this market\n------------------------------------------\nI wish you could send me\nup some nice syrup in\na jug or demajohn [i.e. demijohn] about\nfour, or five gallons.  All\nthe molasses we get sours\nor rather is sour when we\nget it.
