I now take the mudy [sic]\nwater bath between ten \u0026amp; eleven, in place \nof at sunrise as I first commenced, for\nthe reason that it was too cold so early\nfor a Rheumatic .  The sour bath I take\njust before bed time, say at about 9 Oclock\nAnd I think it perfectly splendid  oh\nhow good one feels \u0026amp; how well I sleep\nafter it.  My bed is rather hard but\nI turn over and the oftener.  In all else\nI have nothing to complain of - Mr.\nWillis is here and is having improvements\nmade all the time. He says he wants to\ndo all he can do to make visitors more\ncomfortable in the present buildings\nand to have provided for them food\nthat will be healthy and palatable\nThat by next season he will have every\n-thing on an entirely new \u0026amp; better scale\nI have made the acquaintance of him\nand his wife, both pleasant sensible\npeople.  They eat with the boarders and\nhe has inspected every nook \u0026amp; corner \u0026amp;\nhas added to the comfort of all here\nover fifty regular boarders, and about\nthe same number of campers\n-------------------------------------------------\n It is a continual coming \u0026amp; going.  I meet\npleasant nice ladies all the time\nand from all sections, both in \u0026amp; out of \nTexas       I have just returned from taking \nmy mud bath, cant say I enjoy it at all \nand would not go into it but that it is said to\nbe so good for Rheumtism [sic].  It is a filthy looking\npool, my eyes are feeling very much improved\nI broke my far seeing spectacles, consequent-\nly I dont  use my eyes so much only to write \nand read a few items in the Papers.  Am\nfeeling very well my kidneys have been\npowerfully acted on either by bathing\nor drinking water from a certain wells\nwhich act on the kidneys \u0026amp; bowels liver too \nat the same time\n\nI will write to Sam tomorrow\nhope to hear form you \u0026amp; him too   would\nlike so much for Ell to be here a few\ndays - I don’t think of staying longer\nthan two weeks - children under twelve years\nof age are charged half price - My throat has been was\nsorer here for a few days than it was at home\nnow it is perfectly well,  all that inordinate\nthirst is gone.  I have not craved to drink since\nI have been here.  Now it may be owing to my \nhaving to drink when I do not want water\nor it may be drinking the acid water, my appe-\n-tite is splendid, and nothing I eat disagrees\nwith me - Evidently my liver is acting\nbetter than it has for a long time past\nindeed  I feel that I am being benefited every\nday\n-----------------------------------------------------------\nI write amid all kinds of confusion so \nyou will have to excuse my disjointed\nletters - Then too I have to write in a warm\nroom, with dim light, on top of a wash\n-stand for table - We had preaching\nhere Thursday night I did not go down\nas I had undressed before I knew of it\nTomorrow there will be service here by \ntwo Catholic Priests.  There are a great\nmany French people here, some of them\nare residents, others visitors for health\n\nNo rain yet - in this section - what is to\nbecome of our people, corn almost a total\nfailure and cotton beginning to need\nrain, vegetables [sic] dried up and water\nbecoming scarce - Take care of our good\ncistern water.
