And beside the River is high\r\nand I feared the bridge might not be safe, at\r\nthis time and last tho not least the weather\r\nis too cold for me to leave home with safety\r\nand comfort as I still have cold.  I paid Mrs. Gold\r\ning yesterday for my second months board.  Have\r\nnot heard from Sallie \u0026amp; family since they left\r\nhere the 2nd Inst.   Have I told you that Brother\r\nhad written to me to come up and spend this\r\nyear with him?   he has rented out all his\r\nland as his Son Squire has left him, he is\r\nin Comanche Co. where William is living\r\n-------------------------------------------------------------\r\nthey are both going into the stock raising business\r\nBrother seemed to regret his leaving just now as\r\nhe could not give him any assistance until\r\nnext year.  As he said it would take what he\r\ncould spare of the last years crop to finish pay\r\n-ing for the place he had purchased of Williams\r\nhis family is now reduced to five, himself and\r\nwife \u0026amp; three children.  Brother said that he\r\nhad made thirty bales of cotton \u0026amp; everything\r\nelse in abundance the past year, and that so\r\nsoon as he finished paying for the place he had\r\npurchased of Williams he would feel quite\r\nindependent, as he owed no other debts\r\n\r\nWell I cannot think of anything to write of \r\nthe least interest to you.  Sam is putting some\r\nsmall houses up for Doct Jordan, one is for a drug\r\nstore, the other a servants room.
