Mr. Grove committed\nan error in having the things sent\nthere.  We could have had them brought\nout from Willis or Grand Lake much \nsooner.  I suppose you have heard of poor Mrs\nGlazes murder by an negro in their em\n-ploy, he attacked her in bed while a-\nsleep just after daylight. Mr Glaze had\neat an early breakfast \u0026amp; had gone out to his\nfarm  The negros object was to get money\nhe killed her with a hammer with which\nhe inflicted eight wounds upon her head\nShe lived over twenty four hours tho uncon-\ncious all the time  The negro was arrested\nat Grand Lake the same day brought to Willis\n---------------------------------------------------------\nand hung to a tree before Mrs Glaze died\non Friday morning last.  Sam is in Willis\nhe wrote me that he had engaged to work at the\nfactory.  will commence this week sometime\nI was so thankful you reached G. Lake in time\nfor the Train Charles came half an hour af\nter you left.  Sam staid with us over three\nweeks.  Sallie has been sick tho not serious-\nly so has the ba  Gaston also has been quite unwell\nboth are now up again,  The balance of the fam\nily have kept well. But oh what a hot \nhole this is. The ticks are awful Sallie \u0026amp; I\nspend half our time in keeping them off ourselves\n\u0026amp; the children.  Well I think this thicket is only\nfit for the original inhabitants.   Wild beasts \u0026amp; insects\nof all kinds.  Sam wrote me that he could make\nfrom three to three \u0026amp; a half dollars Friday the\nwork he is to do will be in the shade.\n\nYesterday we received some Papers from G Lake\nthe were of old date but new to us.
