And in case\r\nthey are, would it not be well to \r\nsell what you have for specie\r\nbefore they go down any further\r\nI merely make the suggestion as I \r\nknow we have nothing to lose in this\r\nway.  The war in Europe may afford \r\na pretext for the [        ]  Gov to repudi=\r\nate, or do something mean, no telling\r\nwhat.  So be on the lookout.\r\n\t\t\t\t\r\nSams cotten\r\nhas commenced opening, but he has not\r\npicked any yet, of any consequence\r\nand we have not had two much rain\r\nyet, althoug it rains all round us\r\nalmost every day, no cotton worm\r\nyet\r\n\t\r\nSam sends up some money $7.50\r\nhe wants a half bbl of Flour if you\r\nhave any good, and if not good send\r\na bushel of good corn meal, we\r\nhave a bag at Sam Ashe’s which you\r\ncan put it in, he also wants two\r\ndollars worth coffe, twelve or\r\nfourteen lbs of Lard .  If the money\r\ndoes not hold out you will have\r\n--------------------------------------------------\r\nto charge the balance or pay for\r\nit out some of mine,  I do not like\r\nto use any more, than can be helped\r\nand for an other reason I would prefer\r\nthat you charge it to yourself or to him\r\nas you may decide best - Sam will\r\nsoon have him a nice Boat done\r\n   \r\nI have let Mr Jessie Brooks have\r\nthe little piece of land which I\r\nmentioned last week to you by Mr Ashe\r\n  \r\nI send your drawers \u0026amp; fear they too\r\nare rather large, if so, send them\r\nback and I will alter them,  I wish\r\nyou to let Johns have a hat, not\r\nan expensive one, but a good nice look\r\ning hat,  Charge to me, on to yourself\r\nI will pay for it.
