I think it best for old folks\nto keep by the fire and take care of themselves\nBoth Mr Golden and his Mother have been \nquite sick with colds, made worse by exposure\nand want of timely and proper care\n\nPlease mention \nto Mrs. Ashe the cause of my nonappearance\nI wish you all a Merry Christmas\nI wrote to Sallie last week and requested her to\nretrun by the way of Willis if she could con-\nveniently.
