December 1872 or January 1873]\r\n\r\nMrs Mary Jones\r\n\r\nMadam - I am [on] way to Matagorda\r\nfor the purpose of commencing suite and taking\r\n[depassions] for to remove the cloud from my title\r\nof the two labours of land on Matagorda penenceler [i.e. peninsula]\r\nat the mouth of Caney, and being  as Joseph E Fields\r\nin now getting old and life unsertaine and being\r\nso much pleased and convinced of youre desire to\r\ndo right and your promis not to interfere with\r\nmy clame, I could not comence such a suit where\r\nit  would be published without calling and leting you\r\nknow, and to see if you would wish to avoide it\r\nbe giving me a transfer \r\n\r\nNow the Case stands thus in Jany 1837\r\n\r\nJoseph E Fields agrees with E K Whightmore\r\nto exchange his quarter League of land for sed\r\ntwo labours of land at the head of the penenceler [i.e. peninsula]\r\nSed Whightmore contract was swore to by a subscribing\r\nwitness in 1842\r\n\r\nMr Anson Joneses title is gived or dated the twe[l]vth\r\nof June 1837, without meets or bounds simbly agreeing\r\nrefiring to the intrist in the above Contract\r\nwhich transfir which transfer[sic] was sworn to be\r\none of the subscribing witness of 19 Oct 1840\r\nAnd received for record 1849, and Allso\r\nthe contract the same day\r\n\r\nYou will be plesed to write me at Corpus Christi\r\nand to [                ]  Matagorda so that it will find\r\nme either at one place or the other\r\nI will further state that both the two Labours\r\nand half of the quarter League was sould for\r\nby the Collector of taxes of the County for Convention\r\ntax of 1868 and purchased by Joseph Forrester\r\nand redeemed by me in 1870 a purch[as]ing his Title. over\r\n-------------------------------------------------------------------\r\nNow Madam I think that these are\r\nall the Items I can give you.
