Well in\nfew words we are all huddled\nup in a very small shell of a\nhouse.  so soon as I am able to do \nanything we intend trying our wits\nat putting things up \u0026amp; away\n---------------------------------------------\nso as to give ourselves more room\nI was a little surprised at Gastons\ninviting you here to attend a \nchicken fight.  poor amus[e]ment\nI think for men \n\t\tI have Mr Gailliard\nwas telling me of his having some\nfine silver forks in Houston for\nsale \u0026amp; that he had offered them\nfor $75. dollars  I have thought\nwhether it would not be a good\nexchange on my part to purchase\nthem of I could do so with my\nlittle stock of cattle.  I do not\nknow whether he would make\nthe trade.  he told me the\nforks (two doz) cost $110 dol\nand were very pure good silver\nI would like to have your views\nif adverse to my own it will\nbe all right  as my only\n----------------------------------------\nmotive in the matter is\nto get the Cattle into something\nthat would be useful to our\nfamily as it may be difficult \nto sell for money.  I did not \nintimate this or any other pro[p]\n-osition to Mr. Gailliard for\nthe forks \u0026amp; would from day to \nday forget to mention the \nsubject to you while in \nHouston.
