Poor Mrs. Ashe I have never seen\nher look so sad I regretted leaving her, but\ncould not well stay any longer as I had had\nso little time to prepare anything before going\ndown, and then too I had sewing to do which\nI wanted done before cool weather\n\nThe radical\ndemonstration here yesterday made Gas feel\n-------------------------------------------------------------\nblue for a while.  Gaston has been out among\nthe people all last week.  Reports all the white\nvoters are for the Democracy “Solid.”  We hear\nthat Dunn and his friends are very sanguine of success\nand we hear also that they are hard at work telling\nall manner of stories, no stone will be left unturned\n\nI never was more gratified that at seeing the\nCard of the Houston Bar, it speaks volumes though\nTurners name does not help to swell the list.  I saw\nMr. McComb for a few moments only after he came\nup,  he told me why it was you did not get back\nas I expected, he is a good worker \u0026amp; by the way he\nlooked almost worn out,  he slept soundly in\nhis chair while others were talking, this was the night\nhe came up to Willis.  But he was on hand yester\n-day I fired a few shots into the radical ranks\nafter Brady made his speech.  Well I\nhave nothing of interest to communicate and\nhave felt little like making the effort\nto pen what I have\n\nWith best wishes\nand much love affectionately\nYour Mother     Mary Jones"],"sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","@id":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/sj139218t/manifest/sequence/normal","rendering":[],"canvases":[{"@type":"sc:Canvas","@id":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/sj139218t/manifest/canvas/5138jf160","label":"uhlib_1970_003_do8327mr63r_0001.tif","width":640,"height":480,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@type":"dctypes:Image","@id":"https://media.lib.uh.edu/images/5138jf160%2Ffiles%2F5d0fdc55-f9a1-4cbb-abcd-9485961db975/full/600,/0/default.jpg","height":480,"width":640,"format":null,"service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://media.lib.uh.edu/images/5138jf160%2Ffiles%2F5d0fdc55-f9a1-4cbb-abcd-9485961db975","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"}},"on":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/sj139218t/manifest/canvas/5138jf160"}]},{"@type":"sc:Canvas","@id":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/sj139218t/manifest/canvas/q524jp06c","label":"uhlib_1970_003_do8327mr63r_0002.tif","width":640,"height":480,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@type":"dctypes:Image","@id":"https://media.lib.uh.edu/images/q524jp06c%2Ffiles%2F2fb907d4-cfce-4f35-99af-bee4a482e583/full/600,/0/default.jpg","height":480,"width":640,"format":null,"service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://media.lib.uh.edu/images/q524jp06c%2Ffiles%2F2fb907d4-cfce-4f35-99af-bee4a482e583","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json"}},"on":"https://digitalcollections.lib.uh.edu/concern/texts/sj139218t/manifest/canvas/q524jp06c"}]}]}]}
