I have made no vis\r\nits as yet except four days with Mrs\r\nHarrell.   I hope to get of[f] to our old home\r\nin a few days as there is some prospect of\r\npleasant weather. Just now, we may send\r\nup our remaining things to Houston by\r\nthe Sunday Boat as A P. says he has\r\nan offer to rent the house.\r\n\r\nI am so anxious\r\nto get to the place called home, it makes\r\nme feel sad \u0026amp; restless too, to see spring\r\nopening and not be planting a garden \u0026amp; to know\r\nI shall most likely be deprived of the benefits\r\nof it \u0026amp; perhaps fruit also.  I sometimes regret\r\nI did not go sown to my own home \u0026amp; make\r\nsome arrangement to live there this year\r\nas I most likely will be in discomfort\r\nwhere I am intending to go.  But hope\r\nhope not.  I do try so hard to feel contented \r\nin my unsettled mind \u0026amp; body too.  From\r\nthe way Sallie wrote the day she left she\r\nwas must have been very sad, she says “I go on=\r\nward tomorrow with a heavy heart to make\r\nmy home among strangers feeling no\r\nattachment but for one little spot of earth\r\n---------------------------------------------------------------\r\nand the farther I recede from it the sadder I\r\nI am”  I hope in time she may find relief and\r\nmake some pleasant acquaintances\r\n\r\nI am glad to\r\nhear your health is reestablished.  I may come\r\nup next Sunday week  will let you know\r\nI want to go out to Col. Sydnors after I return\r\nfrom below and spend one day \u0026amp; night there.\r\n\r\n I see Capt [  ]lair out training his race nag\r\nevery day suppose Doct Jourdan will be down\r\nsoon.  Parties have come up from Gal[veston] to move\r\nthe Lodge for Col. S, but Sam told me they were\r\ndiscouraged \u0026amp; afraid to make the attempt as the\r\nground is soft, one of the men said he had run\r\nan Iron rod down ten feet \u0026amp; still found no\r\nbottom.  Sam will today finish Sydnors \u0026amp; APs\r\nware house, and then he will begin on a two\r\nstory house for the Col. to be put up in the\r\n“Burg” don’t know exactly where Mary Roper is in\r\nGalveston \u0026amp; Mrs R is glad to have me with her, for company\r\n\r\nRemember me kindly to Mrs Ashe \u0026amp; all the \r\nfamily.  Ten dollars will be sufficient to get\r\nme off from here with.
