I had already written to John inclosing\nthe letter to his Cousin Jacob Hill who lives at\nSanfelipe.  John was speaking of moving from there\nwhen he wrote me last.  I requested Mr Hill\nfor forward it to John in case he had left\n\nThere is Mary Cooks Child Laura who is an\nheir in her mothers right in case her Mother\ndid not live five years after her marriage\nI have written to day to Mr Hill making the\nenquiry.  Laura is now about eighteen, or nineteen,\nyears of age.  I am very glad you have offered to\ngove them some assistance as they would not know\nhow to proceed.  I am certain Mr Bollinger did\nnot sell the place to pay any community debts\nand am certain also that Mr Butler will upon\nproper application being made to him settle\nthe matter with the rightful remaining heirs\n------------------------------------------------------------\nI have been feeling quite unwell for \nthe past two days.  I do not think I can\ngo down to Houston to the Christmas dinner\nbut will write you again and let you know\nI am taking a severe cold which may make\nme too sick to do anything in the way of getting\nready.
