The cough mix\r\n-ture has relieved him very much, it\r\nenables him to cough much easier and\r\nI think is healing the ulcers in his \r\nthroat, at any rate he is much better of \r\nit.  I got the little Table home yesterday\r\nwhich adds greatly to my little stock \r\nof comforts.\r\n\r\nI read with interest the recep\r\n-tion, and funeral of the late Mr. Schl\r\n-eicher at San Antonio.  Was glad you \r\nhad the pleasure of an introduction to\r\nthe distinguished committee who came\r\nto Texas in honor of our  distinguished dead\r\nrepresentative.  All together it is quite\r\nan event, and one that will be long rem\r\n-embered.  Tuesday evening Mr Wiggins\r\n--------------------------------------------------------\r\ncalled in and read the Deeds you left\r\nwith me and he took his deed to me\r\nhome with him and both himself and\r\nwife will make their acknowledge\r\n-ments to it before Justice Roberts of\r\nhis Precinct and when he comes in again\r\nwill deliver it to me when I will give\r\nhim the deed to our place.\r\n\r\nGaston landed\r\nhis prisoner safely in the Montgomery Jail\r\nall are well at Gas s Sallie came up to\r\nsee me Tuesday _ And brought Elliots Box\r\nof Pictures  I never saw him so delighted\r\nwith anything .  He can set some of the\r\npictures by himself, and it is amusing to see\r\nhow he labors to read the stories, great\r\ndrops of perspiration are visible on his\r\nface so hard is the labor to him  He\r\nsays to tell Uncle Crommy he is much\r\nobliged for the nice present\r\n\r\nWith best wishes, and\r\nmuch love  From Your\r\nMother\r\nMary Jones\r\n\r\nAs soon as I can get the garden fence put up will\r\nbegin planting\r\n-----------------------------------------------------------\r\n[Additional letter enclosed]\r\n\r\nFriday morning\r\n\r\nWoman like I forget to ask\r\nyour opinion about a little\r\nmatter,  which is this, Mr.\r\nWiggins had \u0026amp; not I found taken a\r\nrelease proper, from Bell\r\nbut merely had written\r\nacross the deed of Trust\r\nwhich was on record a stat-\r\nment that that he had paid\r\nin full \u0026amp; taken up his\r\nnote \u0026amp;c \u0026amp;c.  But at my sug-\r\ngestion he wrote our a relea\r\n-se \u0026amp; sent it over for him \r\nto sign, with a request to\r\nsend the same to me by\r\nmail.  As yet however it\r\nhas not come to hand\r\n\r\nThis morning Mr. Mercer\r\nthe man who has rented\r\nthe Wiggins place was here \r\nin company with Gaston\r\nto see if I was in full poss\r\n-esion, and if so to get the\r\n-----------------------------------\r\nnecessary instructions to go\r\non to the place \u0026amp; begin\r\nwork,  which he intends \r\ndoing on Monday next\r\nMy hopes in regard to the cough \r\nmedicine sent up I fear\r\nwill prove a failure as last\r\nnight Elliots cough was as\r\nsevere as at anytime for a \r\nmonth past, he finally vom\r\n-ited about daylight and after\r\n-ward was relieved.  But both\r\nTonsils are more swollen if poss\r\n-ible than when you look\r\n-ed at it when here.  But\r\nhe is up and complains\r\nvery little except when\r\nhe attempts to swallow\r\nanything hard, or rather\r\nsalt.
